Sprint Corporation acquired Nextel Communications in 2006, leaving Boost Mobile as a subsidiary of the merged company, Sprint Nextel Corporation.
To help deployed military personnel in the US armed forces, the company allows service men and women to keep their accounts and phone numbers intact while deployed overseas.
No service charges are incurred and no reactivation fees are applied when the accounts are restored.
